Super Saver Tips For Your Electricity Bill

Posted on August 3rd, 2010 by admin

When you are serious about saving energy it is important to know different cooling methods in your home. Utah air conditioning units can keep your home cool during the summer, but it also uses a lot of energy to cool the home down. Here are a few super saver tips for saving money on your electricity bill this month.

When you need Utah Air ConditioningUse your ceiling fans. Ceiling fans have proven to make the room anywhere from 3 to 8 degrees cooler because it circulates the air around you. The other nice part is that many people can install ceiling fans themselves if they are the type of do-it-yourself individuals.

Be sure that you have the ceiling fan going the right way. You want the air to blow down, and remove the hot air next to you. Check that it is moving counter-clockwise to blow the air down. Some fans have a switch that allows you to change fan directions.
Clean out your Utah air conditioning unit’s filter. Utah air conditioning units should have their filters cleaned, or replaced, every month. A dirty filter makes your AC to have to work much harder, which will not save you any money on your electricity bill.

A lot of nifty inventions have come out to help cool you down. One of those is a chillow pillow. The chillow pillow is filled with water and is supposed to keep your head cool while you sleep.

Another cool invention was made for people who can’t sleep with out their covers, even when it is extremely hot. A fan, called the Bedfan, works to save you from having to run your AC unit during the night just to keep you comfortable through out the night. It attaches right on your bed, and fans right under the covers. It is especially handy for people who are prone to hot flashes and night sweats through out the night.

Avoid having sunlight stream directly in to your home. You don’t want the sunlight to raise the temperature of your home by a lot. Use drapes on especially hot days to keep the temperature in your home cooler.

Don’t forget to use the old classic options. Come home, drench your shirt in cold water, and wear your wrung-out shirt. The moisture on the skin should cool you down, especially if you have your fans going in the home. If you’re worried about your furniture use a towel for your back.

Tank-less Water Heaters

Many heater service providers are now offering what is called a tank-less water heater. These water heaters are great and can provide instant hot water with a lower utility bill. And who isn’t thinking about saving money right now in our economy?

Tank-less water heaters are just that. They are a water heater without a storage tank. Instead of having pre-heated water in a tank, they only heat up as necessary. These tank-less water heaters will provide instead heat at the temperature that you assign. Water Heater repair or replace

Because they are heating as they go, it cuts down on your utility bill. It won’t be heating unnecessary water that you are not using at the present. Tank-less water heaters can save up to 50% energy and generally cuts off about 10 to 20 percent of your water heating bill.

Another plus to these is that they last longer than typical storage water heaters. That’s right, endless amounts of water along with less maintenance. And usually has a life expectancy of 20 plus years.

No more cold showers. With tank-less water heaters, this isn’t a problem because they supply never-ending amounts of heated water. It doesn’t matter if you have your dishwasher, or regular washer going. Your shower wont turn cold, and neither will anything else.

Another great thing about tank-less water heaters is that they reduce the risk of flooding. I’ve experienced a flood in my basement due to a storage water heater. It isn’t fun to deal with that. With tank-less water heaters you completely reduce the change of a flood.

If you are cramped for storage space in your home, apartment, or town home, tank-less water heaters can help you out. They are a lot smaller because they don’t have to hold all the preheated water. They will take up far less room than the typical storage water heaters so you don’t have to worry about storage space.

Many water heater service providers offer free estimates and great deals. Call them to find out if this is perfect for you and your family.

Improving your home allows you to upgrade it and make it nicer to live in. It also increases the value of your home. There are many ways you can improve your home.

When considering upgrades to a home it is also important to think about how long you are planning on staying in your home. Will the upgrade increase the value of your home if you plan on selling it soon? Will the investment be a good selling point?

Also, if you are considering moving in the next few years you may want to consider about investing in things that would be good selling points later on. For example, if you only have one bathroom for the home consider installing another bathroom in the master bedroom. If you have an unusually large room consider adding a wall and making it in to a separate room to be used for a guest room or study.

You can start with something simple, such as repainting a room. Add a little color to a dull room. Add a splash of wall paper and bring in a themed look to your kitchen.

These improvements depend on what you are willing to spend. Some things can be a great investment. For example, if you spend a lot of time entertaining guests and hosting dinner parties a remodel of your kitchen can be a good idea. However, it is more expensive than installing new carpet, so you need to know where you want to spend your money.

If you want to upgrade your furnace contact your local West valley cooling and air company for advice. West valley cooling and air companies should be able to give you great advice and help you invest in the best upgrade for your price range. Improvements to your home don’t have to be just on the inside of your home. External improvements should be considered as well. Whether it is adding a motor to your garage door opener, or fixing your roof, these types of things can depend on what you are willing to invest both time and energy in.
