Picking out the right faucet for your kitchen can be a difficult decision. There are so many things to choose from. Where do you even start? As I’ve done a little research on it I’ve found a couple of tips that helped me to narrow down and finally be able to choose.
First, the worst thing you can do is buy the first faucet that you see. Even if the beauty of it strikes you, how do you know that it is the right one for you? How do you know it will last, or that the price is good?
Know the different kitchen faucet types. There are four main types out there for you to choose from. It’s good to review these so you can see what you really need and what will work the best for your home.
The first is a center set faucet. These are by far the most common that you see. This has the spout right in between the two handles.
Widespread faucets have the hot and cold handles. These require cold and hot water valves that are installed separately. These are listed as the most expensive.
Mini-widespread usually is for antique looking sinks. The valves are pretty close together. Wall-mounted have the spouts that extend above over the sink and are elegantly longer.
With this in mind, you’ll next have to think about prices. Usually you’ll find new faucets from $175-$300 or more. Remember when you go to purchase that you pay for what you get. Usually you’ll find that the more expensive will last longer.
When you go to install or hook up your faucet you might find that it is worth your money to hire someone to do it for you. If you have just spent around $200-$300 dollars for a faucet you want to make that it is installed correctly and that nothing is ruined in the process.
